Streetfoods are the best windows to a new place’s soul..

Travelling to a completely new city, if you are just an amateur traveller can be either exciting or stressful, especially when it comes to food… You have the option to discover and enjoy new and affordable dishes, or go to fancy restaurants where you’re sure to like what they serve, or end up starving..
These are the foods that kept my pocket intact and satisfied my gastronomic demands, while I enjoy my stay in Kuala Lumpur.
First, you can check out this food list of a local restaurant. I had fun reading the list.
Masarap ang bawal..20.50 lang
Kangkong? Kailan, Goreng? Sawi!!
Hmmm. this is not a street food, but Mcdonalds is still a common option down the streets. Bubur Ayam is a congee topped with crispy anchovies and spices. Available at Mcdonalds KL.. at least at the time of our visit..

Roti Çanai is an Indian-influenced flatbread that comes with variety of dips. Common in Kuala Lumpur, this is perhaps the most affordable food I have tried.
Look at these angry birds..
Considered as Malaysia’s national dish, Nasi Lemak is a very common Malaysian street food. A serving of rich Malay rice with peanuts, hard boiled egg, crispy anchovies and cucumber.

Sauteed seafod flatnoodles and bean sprouts.. whatever the local name?
Quenched my thirst with a vanilla-flavored coke.
Chicken noodles.. I forgot the local name.. but it was a breakfast savior..
Ais Kaçang is a Malaysian dessert similar to Filipino Halo-halo made of shaved ice mixed with various ingredients such as sago, beans, fruits, jam, and agar jelly, then, in this special version, topped with ice cream, rice crispies and champola.

Putu Bambu is a rice cake cooked in a bamboo shell and sprinkled with coconut.

Here, a flavored ice cream in different variety. I choose to try the red beans flavor.
And coz I believed that, when in a new place, you should eat what the locals eat (suggested but not required), here’s local mango sold by street vendors. It came with a spicy dip which I rejected in the end and opted for a simple salt.
It’s sure fun discovering new food.
